How To Let Go Of What No Longer Serves You
Releasing and letting go has been a major theme in the last few years for a lot of us – be it some relationships, people, mindsets, negative belief systems or wounds and hurts from our past. We have constantly been in this energy of making space for something new.
Anyone who’s on this journey of spiritual awakening or self-love understands that there have been numerous triggers and cosmic energies pushing us to release more and more every day. The shift that we have been witnessing only comes through when we release our old perceptions.
But how to let go?
Releasing and letting go doesn’t entirely mean “getting over”, “forgetting” or “moving on”.
But yes,
Releasing definitely means choosing peace instead of this.
Releasing means choosing freedom.
Releasing means letting go of everything which holds you back.
Releasing means allowing new perceptions.
We simply have to let go because it’s too heavy to walk with this burden of “what if”, ” if only i ..”, “but why did they do this”.
Releasing and letting go makes way for the NEW.
So if there’s something which still gives you sleepless nights, maybe it’s time to forgive and let it go. Just like our cupboards, our minds and energetic fields need to make space before something new can fit in. They need to be told that we are giving these old things away because we are bringing in something new. SPACE is the pre-requisite. We hold onto so many back-up plans but the truth is, till the time you don’t let go, the Universe cannot quite receive your message of “readiness”.
Over the past few years, I have come through a lot of different ways to release. Here are some of them through which you can release and let go what no longer serves you:
1. Writing into existence
As you all know by now, writing has been no less than a tool of therapy for me. If journaling doesn’t scare you off, go get your hands on one and do this little exercise.
Start journaling on a fresh paper with this journal prompt:
“What do I need to let go of today?”
Take deep breaths three times and keep the intention to be as honest as you can be. You can let go of a situation, habit, fear, a blocking mindset belief or even someone you no longer wish to be energetically connected to.
Once you have released down every ounce of your frustration, anger or resentment onto the paper, set it on fire or tear it apart. Feel a strong emotion of release as you give it away.
You can either leave it here or you can choose to go back to a fresh paper and write your new belief systems or positive thoughts to do a reset.
I claim my freedom.
I am free from my past.
I am ready to expect good things to freely flow towards me.
I am honouring to make way for this new life.
Alternatively, you can also choose to write a fiction letter to someone (or the Universe) where you open your heart out and get the closure for once and all.
2. Meditation to let go
Meditation is a great way to delve deeper within your psyche and release what no longer is serving you. While there can be a plethora of meditations through which you can release, I am sharing three of my favourite meditations through which I’ve released over and over:
Visualization meditation:
You can do a visualization exercise where see yourself closing doors on the past and opening new ones, literally. GIve yourself at least 10-15 minutes to get into the practice and dive deeper as you visualize yourself letting go of this situation or person in your mind. Elephant Journal shared an amazing Buddhist Vipassana meditation doing the same three years back. It was truly one of the most igniting meditations of my life to begin my transformative journey.
Releasing meditation:
Visualize yourself interacting with the people you want to let go of as you forgive and release them one by one. You can say whatever you wish to say to them at this point. You are allowed to be angry, to cry or to shout at them. Louise Hay has a wonderful meditation doing this. You can check it out here.
Violet Flame Meditation:
Fire is the most transformative element spiritually. Violet Flame was a gift from St. Germain and has been also known as the “Flame of Transmutation,” the “Flame of Mercy,” the “Flame of Freedom,” and the “Flame of Forgiveness”. The Violet Flame is said to be a sacred fire which releases, transmutes and transforms all negative emotions and blockages.
You can go deep in meditation by grounding and visualizing a violet flame burning in front of you. See yourself surrendering your worries, pain, anxiety, problems, or anything else that you want to be transformed, into the violet flame. Repeat the mantra/ affirmation:
I SURRENDER ___________ (THIS RELATIONSHIP, THIS PAIN, THIS ISSUE) TO THE VIOLET FLAME NOW. IT IS NO LONGER SERVING ME. IT IS NOW RELEASED AND TRANSMUTED INTO PURE LOVE AND LIGHT. AND SO IT IS.
And with this intention, know that so it is, done. Completely done and transformed. Get up from your mat feeling this transformation and knowing that you have done a great service to yourself today.
If you want to adopt a guided meditation for this, I recommend, Guided Meditation – Ep. 24: Violet Flame – transmuting emotions by Madeline Rinehart.
Emotional Freedom Tapping Technique
EFT, or Tapping as it is widely known as has been one of my most favourite practices out there to release and reset a negative fear or mindset. It is a therapy tool used in combination with tapping certain meridian points on our face as we go on to release pent up emotions and reset with positive affirmations. I have used EFT to not just reset a lot of limiting self-beliefs I had about love and money, but to also heal migraine and anxiety. Interestingly, I also had a couple of sessions a few months back with some of my friends and followers. I have been stunned to see how many people healed so much of their physical pain, anxiety and issues through just one session of EFT.
This is one of the core reasons why I am soon introducing Tapping as a 4-week program to help reset these mindset blocks completely. If you have no idea what is Tapping or EFT, I’d suggest you watch this video by my favourite spiritual teacher Gabby Bernstein. Meanwhile, stay tuned to check out all the Tapping content I’ll be churning out very soon!
Metaphorical Exercises:
Sometimes little things do the work. There are a number of metaphorical exercises which can make your mind act as if it has released the pent up anger, resentment and guilt.
You can go for a run with some stones or tennis balls in your pocket feeling the rush. Then once you feel these emotions building up inside you, start throwing off these stones or balls one by one releasing these emotions. This has been an age-old therapy tool to release anger. No wonder, this has been one of the most cliched scenes used in the movies to show a protagonist angry. Works!
Subliminal Music to let go of past
The term “subliminal” means below the threshold of conscious perception. Subliminal music refers to music tracks embedding messages that are recorded below the hearing levels of a normal human being.
Subliminal music has been very effective for a lot of people to heal and revoke their power essence. Basically, subliminal music is set at a different frequency than the usual ones to tune into different issues ranging at different frequencies. For example, 528 hertz is associated with DNA repair, transformation and miracles while the 396 hertz is related to liberating guilt and fear.
Vortex Success and Meditative Mind are two of the most popular sound healing channels on Youtube currently. Here’s a subliminal track to let go of the past with isochronic tones you can listen to.
We make a choice to Let Go when we understand that we are fruitlessly trying to control the outcome and people around – when in reality, everything can move much smoothly if we allow it to. Holding on to the past creates resistance in the stream of well -being (which is always flowing no-matter-what!). It makes us stand in our own ways. It’s time to release and let go.
