How To Create Positive Affirmations + 5 Ways To Use Them For Healing and Manifestation
If you’re on a spiritual or a personal development path, you would have come across positive affirmations by now. If not, welcome.
Positive affirmations are one of the many ways through which mindset coaches go on to reprogram old belief systems in your subconscious mind. These belief systems are self-sabotaging, harmful and are blocking the flow of energy towards the life you desire. Re-programming them through different tools (including positive affirmations) allow your healing, development and growth to happen seamlessly.
According to Abraham Hicks, a metaphysical teacher and author of Ask and it’s Given, our desires ALREADY exist. Perhaps, not in this time, space and reality, but in a parallel universe, it’s already happening. The only reason you are not able to experience it is because of these old belief systems which are blocking the flow of your life.
Now, we will leave this for another post. In this post, we will be talking about how can we utilize these positive, empowering phrases to not just heal from old traumas but also create a life that we truly desire.
To start with, pick up an issue in your life.
I have asthma.
I am lonely.
I am broke.
I am not happy.
I don’t feel loved.
I am not happy in my relationship.
I am not productive.
I am not successful.
It could be anything. As you must have noticed, these are in negative connotations. We have been repeating and manifesting these issues in our lives on a loop for so long that they have become deep-rooted belief systems (Again, note that your belief systems can come from your childhood and your past lives as well. So first of all, forgive yourself, instead of resenting. You know better now. Thank yourself. )
Now we will be reversing these belief systems with positive affirmations.
I have asthma. – I have healthy lungs.
I am lonely. – I am establishing beautiful relationships.
I am broke. – I am rich.
I am not happy. – I feel so happy.
I don’t feel loved. – I am loved. I feel loved.
I am not happy in my relationship. – I am in a happy relationship.
I am not productive. – I am efficient and aligned to my highest path.
I am not successful. – I am succeeding in my highest purpose.
Here are five ways through which you can use your positive affirmations:
1. Reciting them
Our minds have been trained to receive orders like a child. We follow instructions the best through listening. This is why loudly reciting affirmations prove to be much more effective than silently thinking of them. You can either speak your affirmations loudly in the I format- I AM A POWERFUL BEING, or as Shakti Gawain, the author of Creative Visualizations suggests, have them spoken as if someone else is speaking to you (unfortunately, our minds were trained to follow what others ask us to do) by using YOU instead of I. Eg: Your name______, you are a powerful being.
You can chant them as mantras first thing in the morning. You can do them while driving your car, especially when you are anxious. You can sing them in the shower. These are your go-to self-help aid tools, always accessible and available.
2. Putting them in your physical space
This is the most powerful way of manifestation. If you have been familiar with manifesting, you’d be familiar with Vision Board. Vision Boards are physical Pinterest boards where we pin up our dream pictures, which could be a vacation spot, a style inspiration, a luxurious business class ticket, a money goal, a role model, your ideal body etc. Vision boards work with the subconscious mind in the fundamental that what we expose ourselves to every now and then, becomes a reality we start believing in and hence attracting opportunities to turn that dream into a reality. Now of course, you can put affirmations on your vision board if you are setting to BE something. For example: I am a successful entrepreneur or I am married to the love of my life or perhaps personal goals like I love myself or I am confident.
Now working with the same fundamental, when we are aware that our physical has the powerful ability to turn our thoughts, aspirations and desires into reality – then we would naturally be more conscious of everything that we are putting out in our physical space.
So if you are willing to quit smoking but you have poster of a celebrity smoking on your cupboard, then it’s a major block.
I’d suggest you to let go of things which create a block to your goals. Instead try to fill up your space with more positive, empowering things (motivational posters, happy coasters, mindful quotes, intentional calendar, frames of your dream lifestyle or your happy face, charms with loving messages, etc.)

I created these amazing Intentional Calendars for 2020 with exactly this intention to bring more positive energy to your sacred space as you also get an opportunity to live each month guided by an affirmation coming from cosmic energies. Check out what this Calendar is all about – maybe you’d also want to gift your BFF something meaningful this year(sold out).
3. Writing repeated affirmations
Remember how you were asked to repeat math tables and poems as a child until you learnt them by heart? Notice how you can still mindlessly recite them without pausing or even noticing the exact meaning of what you are saying? Repetition of a thought sinks it deeper into the subconscious mind – so deep that it becomes a part of our reflex. When it comes to manifesting, repetition of affirmations establishes beliefs and convictions, hence reprogramming old mindset beliefs.
You can do it by giving yourself a fixed number for a specific number of days. Maybe do it three days in a row or five or seven. Once you have done that, let it go 🙂
4. Tapping
EFT is emotional freedom tapping technique, heavily used by psychotherapists to heal anxiety. It’s a pseudo chinese medicine based on the tapping of energy meridian point to change a limiting belief system and reprogram it to a positive one. How do you do that? We first address the blocks, the triggers and then we move on to heal them with positive affirmations. Basically you are speaking your affirmations, but combined with tapping, it becomes 10X more powerful. I have been using EFT in the last one year to shift my mindset in all areas of my life and have found it to be extremely helpful in healing my old stories and blocks.
There are plenty of EFT videos on Youtube. I also make weekly tapping videos on Instagram on different topics, so do check them out.
5. Listening to positive affirmation audios
Passive listening is extremely powerful. Commercials use them to instil brand recall and have you come back again and again. Schools have used them to instil habits in you. Entertainment industry uses this to disempower us. This is the reason why certain belief systems have been so ingrained in all of us. Those things have been told to us over and over again. Unfortunately, a large proportion of them are proving to be sabotaging. For example – you will never succeed. you’re stupid. you are useless. no one can like you . . . and so on.
But hey. Now that you know about the great impact of passive listening, know that you can turn the tables around.
Listening to affirmations as songs, audios or recordings can reprogram our mindset over a period of time. The words have frequency and so, high vibrational words will raise our frequency. Similarly, so does the music. This is why once you’re conscious enough, you would be very careful with what you want to listen to even for entertainment.
Here are some of my favourite souls who make great affirmation audios:
Jess Shepherd or Rising Higher Meditation
